Campus Update, April 18, 2025

Written By: Terisa Riley

Hello, colleagues and students.

As I write this message, I am looking out on our beautiful campus and feeling so grateful for good weather and our lush campus green. If you haven't, please take time to take a walk, read a book under one of our rotunda, and take time lie in a hammock strung between two of our trees. We are so lucky to work and study on such a gorgeous campus.

Workday Student Registration: Our first week of registration in Workday Student has started successfully. As of this morning, we have registered more than 1,400 students! I sincerely appreciate the hard work of our Workday Student implementation team, led by Meagan Bowling-Fudge, and all of our professional and faculty advisors who have learned and embraced this new tool.

Governor's Cup: Annually, the state of Arkansas hosts the Governor's Cup--a collegiate business plan competition. Congratulations to Sydney Crabtree, Hanna Aldridge,  and Blaine Chambers for competing as finalists and representing ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú so admirably with their plan to create a museum acquisition software. Many thanks to the faculty and mentors who coached and supported our students who competed.

2025 General Legislative Session: The 95th Legislative Session recessed on Wednesday with sine die scheduled for May 5. During the session, 1,928 bills and resolutions were filed, and more than 600 bills are anticipated to be signed into law. As this session concludes, Jennifer King, Chief of Staff and ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú Legislative Liaison, will work with the UA System Legislative Liaison to provide a written summary of the Acts that will most effect the university. Among those, the ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú Appropriation Act and Arkansas Access will be of importance.

This coming week is going to be packed with outstanding celebrations and demonstrations of student success. I look forward to attending the ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú Athletics Hall of Fame Banquet, the Academic Excellence Awards, the Stacey Jones Season of Entertainment A Grand Night for Singing, home baseball game against Rogers State, the 2025 Scholarship Dinner, the Rock Lab Concert, and the WATC LPN Pinning Ceremony. This is the time of year when I wish I could be in two places at the same time! There is so much to celebrate as we are only three weeks from commencement.

For those who celebrate: Happy Easter and have a glorious weekend!
