The ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú Department of Music and Theatre is proud to host the inaugural ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú Conducting Symposium.

The symposium will be hosted by Dr. Alexandra Zacharella, ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú director of bands, and will feature guest clinician H. Robert Reynolds, director emeritus of university bands, Arthur Thurnau Emeritus Professor of Music (Conducting) at the University of Michigan.

During this one-day intensive conducting workshop, participants and observers will participate in score study, rehearsal techniques, ensemble motivation, conducting technique, panel discussion, building relationships, and personal musical growth.
There will be two tracks: participants ($65) and observers ($20 in advance or $25 at the door, PayPal or Venmo only).
- Participants will have the opportunity to conduct the ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú Wind Ensemble twice throughout the symposium in one of two selections: Festive Overture - Dimitri Shostakovich (D. Hunsberger trans.) or American Salute - Gound/Lang.
- Participants will receive direction and feedback from H. Robert Reynolds in discussions about conducting technique, rehearsal technique, score study, ensemble motivation, and more.
- Observers will have the opportunity to watch and attend conducting, lecture, and discussion sessions in order to develop, refine, and nurture individual conducting and rehearsing techniques through observation, personal note taking, and reflection.

The ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú Department of Music and Theatre proudly presents the ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú Wind Ensemble under the direction of Dr. Alexandra Zacharella as part of the new Stacy Jones Season of Entertainment in concert at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 18, at the Fort Smith Performing Arts Center. H. Robert Reynolds will be the guest conductor for an evening of exciting music. The concert is free and open to the public.
